Who can relate? If the idea of going to therapy fills you with fear, here are a few tips for that first therapy session:

• The majority of people who have their first session feel nervous and are unsure how to articulate everything they want to say.  The good news is that the majority of people finish that session feeling calmer and more hopeful that they are heard and that things can change for the better.

• The virtual therapy room often becomes your sanctuary; the one safe place you can go to and express yourself unapologetically, knowing you will not be judged.

• It’s normal to worry that your story may shock the therapist. But after all these years, it’s almost impossible to shock me!

• You won’t be able to cover everything in the first session. Don’t worry about explaining everything clearly or in a specific order. I take notes as I might need to come back to something later.

• If you feel nervous or worry about being judged, let me know and I will help you work through it.

• See how therapy can help you feel better about yourself, your situation, your relationships and you in the World.  I’ll walk with you every step of the way!
