Do I need a doctor’s referral to see Carol?

You can contact Carol directly by email or telephone and do not require a doctor’s referral to begin services.  Carol offers face to face Sessions and, as of September 2018, is now offering telephone counseling/therapy as well.

What is the fee for each session?

The fee per session is $130 and may be covered by your  insurance or benefits plan or that of a family member where MSW RSW therapy is covered (please contact your particular Insurance company to inquire whether MSWs or RSWs are covered by your policy before contacting Carol).  Payment is accepted at each session by cash, cheque, E-transfer or credit card (Visa, MasterCard).  Please contact Carol if you would like additional information or have any questions.

How long are the sessions?  How long will it take to feel better?

Each session is 50 minutes in length.  There are occasions when the sessions may be longer (for example during Exposure Therapy for phobias) and the fee will need to be adjusted accordingly.  The number of sessions required depends on the nature and severity of the issues; Carol would be happy to discuss this further with you by telephone, email or in person.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)?

Please refer to the Services section for detailed information about the different therapy modalities provided

Do I need medication?

While the therapies and approaches Carol uses have been shown to be effective, there are times in which medication can be a very useful adjunct in the treatment of depression and anxiety,  especially in serious depression and anxiety which have profoundly interfered with your life.  Please discuss this option with your Family Doctor or Psychiatrist.

Is the office accessible by transit?  Is there parking available?

The office is conveniently located in Newmarket in the Medical Sciences Building at 603 Davis drive which is directly across the street from Southlake Regional Health Centre.  It is very accessible by transit.  Parking is FREE for our clients.  If you are coming from the South or West, it is recommended that you take Lundy’s Lane north one block, turn right on Watson avenue and right again on Bolton avenue.  You are welcome to park in the lot behind our white Medical Sciences building.

To benefit from free parking, please ensure that you come straight into the building after parking as an Attendant monitors the parking lot.
