Carol Speed-Zeyen MSW, RSW is a Registered, Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist (Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers) with a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto (1994). She is also a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with an Advanced Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Carol is a member of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT), the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). In addition to being formally trained in CBT and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, she has studied Psychotherapy with Psychiatry Residents at the Clarke Institute (now CAMH). She provides Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychotherapy services, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)techniques. Her professional mental health career includes work at: the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (Clarke site), St. Michael’s Hospital, Mackenzie Health (formerly York Central Hospital), Southlake Regional Health Centre (Mental Health Urgent Clinic/Emergency) and the Southlake Academic Family Health Team. She has also provided mental health focussed psycho-educational lectures to the University of Toronto’s medical residents as well as consultation to Medical Residents, General Practitioners (Family physicians), Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses.
Carol is genuinely committed to improving overall mental health, mood and outlook for young adults (18+) to adults (up to 70. Her supportive and encouraging approach provides a safe environment in which to overcome the fear, negative thoughts and patterns that stand in the way of moving forward to a life of more freedom, confidence and happiness. Her specialties include: Anxiety (including: Panic attacks, Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, mild OCD and some Phobias), Depression, Self-esteem and Stress management issues.
Services are tailored to the needs of each individual. As a provider of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychotherapy services, Carol’s fees are often covered by many Benefits plans (please check whether your Insurance provider covers Master in Social Work (MSW) or Registered Social Worker (RSW) prior to contacting Carol ). As she is a Regulated Health Professional, you may also choose to submit receipts on income tax forms under ‘Medical Expenses’.
Please note that Carol does not work with Motor Vehicle Accident situations (eg. preparing OCF-18, OCF 21 or HCAI Forms).
